2008 October > Town of Newmarket Is Proud to be Pesticide Free!
Newmarket’s pesticide free bylaw is now in effect and the Town is proud to be pesticide free! Members of the public were invited to join the Town of Newmarket Council and staff, the Newmarket Environmental Advisory Committee and Home Depot representatives for a pesticide free extravaganza at the
Newmarket Home Depot.
Festivities included an organic lawn care seminar by Gloria Marsh, a Q&A session with Newmarket's horticulturalist, Johnny Dwyer, dandelion ice cream samples, 25% off organic lawn care products, rain barrels and composters and a special guest appearance by Lucy the Ladybug!
The Town has partnered with the Home Depot to promote the new pesticide free bylaw, with Home Depot being the first home improvement retailer to stop selling pesticide and herbicide products in stores across Canada.
